Key Responsibilities and Services
- District-Level Services: Refuse and recycling collection, housing and homelessness prevention, local planning and building control, council tax billing, environmental health (including food safety inspections), and parks and street cleaning.
- County-Level Services: Adult and children’s social care, education and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support, highways, roads, and transport planning, libraries and museums, and trading standards.
- Governance and Strategy: Setting annual budgets and council tax, approving key policy frameworks (such as the Corporate Plan and Local Transport Plan), and strategic corporate management.
