Cutting Red/Green Tape
Businesses big and small have been held back by stifling ESG and climate reporting requirements. This thicket of “green tape” has mutated over decades and is making British businesses internationally uncompetitive, with no evidence that it’s helping the environment or climate.
We will put businesses and growth first by scrapping mandatory non-financial reporting requirements to save businesses £300 million per year. Businesses who want to continue reporting, are of course free to do so, but we not require them to.
This comes in addition to our plan to repeal the Climate Change Act, which has been a drag anchor on Britain’s economy. In its place, we will implement a strategy for the cheap and reliable energy businesses need.
